This is a small interior painting, in acrylic. I had spent some time painting landscapes from life, and this was one of the first ‘interior’ paintings I did after that. Spiritual dimensions might open to the seeker, especially through art; I was reading The Outsider by Colin Wilson at the time.

Okay, Slick, here’s my 2 cents. First I like how you put the dimensions on some. I wish you’d do it for them all. It just gives me a better idea how to relate to them.
I really like the following: “Apparition”, “Fict. Landscape” and “Yellow”. If we trade paintings one day I want one of these. These painting all have great spirit and some intangible emotions. The also feel “historical” (in the good sense)and genuine-I’m a real sucker for that kind of thing…
Don’t much care for “Horn” (great paint work but I just feel blocked by the close up head taking up the picture-it makes me want to see around him or back up and see everything), “Il Funambolo” (again I like the paintwork but I get stuck by the mappy “boot” – too literal, stop beating me over the head!), “Untitled”(nice paint but, ho-hum, sitting nude… just doesn’t do much for me, I can’t figure out a good reason for the painting…)
The lat two I put in another category. “White Horse” and “Falling Man” are good paintings but I just never have quite bought into paintings that simulate snapshots of fast action. This is probably just my own bias. I think of old Yarber back in school days. Some figures hurtling into space, they never seemed “real” enough, whatever that means. Maybe, I think, a painting just can’t possibly convey the terror, speed and sound. It’s like trying to paint the sun. Whatever you do won’t come close to matching it.
Okay, anyway, just my opinions, what do I know? All in all great work. I hope you’re doing a whole bunch more like these. Wait ’til I get my new batch done, I’m going to send some more photos. In a couple of years I really plan to have a significant show or bust. That’s my big push. I’ve waited so long but I never took my eyes off the road. Geoff
